All the Japanese tries were unbelievable rugby but Fukuoka’s second is one of the best pieces of individual skill you’ll see on a pitch. To grab it out of the air like that and still have the pace is just sensational. Try of the tournament
I am Italian and Japan have improved more over the last 5 years than Italy over the last 20 plus having the chance to play the best teams in the world every year. Something to reflect over regarding management and structural plans for the future of the Italian rugby.
Lafaele is from Samoa, but thanks for being given a chance at a Japanese university and playing in Japan. I am very proud of him fighting for Japan as a Japanese. I thank him, his family and the people of Samoa. ARIGATO♡
I watched Matsushima’s game closely as he took the ball. Curiously, he always seems to have a smile. In addition to his undeniable talent, this guy really enjoys playing even in the most intense moments of the game. It’s a gift.
Well, Japan has entered into Tier 1. What a match, what a team, surely the best match so far in this RWC. They have gained rugby fans’heart, mine included, and I hope you, blossoms, will beat again South Africa to pursue your and our dream! Go Nippon!
I remember when I first saw Fukuoka’s try I thought he dropped the ball, just to see how amazingly he’d caught it an inch from the ground. Sucks that Japan sent us home earlier than we’d have liked, but at the same time I’m glad to see a former tier 2 team break the mould. World rugby’s been crying out for more competition
The Japanese rugby has grown on a history of humiliation. I am grateful for the efforts of our predecessors. And I pay my respect to the Samurai who are fighting for Japan, including Michael Leitch.
The quarter-final is not the end of the match for Japan. There is still work to be done; with heart and courage. Congratulations to the team of Japan who is constantly improving. In France, we watched with great pleasure the excellence of the game that you have offered and you will continue to offer. That’s a true rugby.
I’m English and, even though I watched this amazing game live, I’ve got tears running down my cheeks watching these incredible highlights- and that cheer from the crowd when they kicked the ball out to end the match was a truly beautiful sound to hear! Go Brave Blossoms!
What a fantastic performance! Japan thoroughly outclassed and outplayed Scotland in every department. The emotion and exuberance from the crowd was amazing to see! 🏉 Just a day after the Typhoon, the Brave Blossoms delivered a world-class performance we will remember for a long time! 🇯🇵🏉🏉🏉🏉
The second try is always heartbreaking and heartbreaking no matter how many times I watch it. It’s a picture of everyone working together to recover from typhoon damage.

Japan is getting really good at a lot of sports
JAPAN has immensely improved over the last 5 years. Most definitely the talking point of this year’s RWC. Well done JAPAN <3
Superb rugby, just superb. An absolute joy to watch that offloading!

Those two inside offloads for the third try made me smile..what a brand of rugby to have
Japan’s World Cup performance is a perfect example of sport. Jolly good show Japan!
Incredible moment, such a scene couldn’t be imagined a decade ago❤️‼️
Thank you so much for showing and creating the great memory, so impressed👏🍺😭

As a Scot I’m hurting after that game but at the same time so happy for Japan. What a game they play. Hope they go on to win it.
Everyone going on about Fukuoka and Matsushima, when Lafaele single-handedly set up 3 of Japans tries
“Sooo underrated”

I wish this victory encourage people who were affected by the big typhoon in Japan

Probably one of the best matches ive seen in a long while
Flying FUKUOKA🏃♂️💨

That second try from Japan was something else.
Japan’s World Cup performance is a perfect example of sport. Jolly good show Japan!
Thank you Japan from Fiji
